A flat puzzle from ZePuzzles with a 5x5 grid on the top and bottom faces and a thickness of just one layer. The ZePuzzles 1x5x5 Floppy Cube is a floppy-type cuboid made with 3D printing technology, with a matte (frosted) surface. It is the middle model in the ZePuzzles floppy series. It is bigger and harder than the 1x4x4, but noticeably easier than the 1x6x6 and 1x7x7.

How to solve the 1x5x5 floppy cube

A floppy cube has no 90-degree turns. Each row turns 180 degrees, so pieces move from the top face to the bottom face and back. You'll get the hang of how it moves in a few minutes. The tricky part is that a single turn moves a whole row of five pieces and scrambles both faces at once. With a 5x5 grid, you need to plan the order of your moves, whereas on a 1x3x3 or 1x4x4 you can still reach the solution by feel.

3D printing and feel

The pieces are 3D printed, so don't expect the same turning as on injection-moulded speed cubes. The movement is more tactile, and printed puzzles from this series may catch slightly. Some users improve the smoothness with a little lube and by loosening the mechanism. This is a puzzle for relaxed solving, not for chasing times or counting TPS. The matte surface doesn't shine and gives a good grip. The shape is wide and flat, so it sits comfortably in your hands.
