What to expect

This is not a cube for setting fast times. It is a puzzle for people who enjoy unusual mechanisms and collect puzzles beyond the standard WCA lineup. When you solve a Wheel Cube, you have to track not only the colors on the pieces but also the orientation of the rotating wheels. Even if you know 3x3 methods well, you will first need to figure out how the mechanism works and come up with your own ways of moving the pieces around.

Calvin's Puzzle mainly makes collector's puzzles, often in short production runs. Their mechanisms are not tuned for speedcubing like flagship GAN or MoYu cubes. Expect slower, more "mechanical" turning, and the first turns usually need a little breaking in. Slow, steady moves work better here than aggressive turning.

The Dual-Star Wheel Cube is a good choice for a collector or a cuber who already solves several types of puzzles and is looking for something without a ready-made step-by-step guide. It also looks great on a shelf next to other models from the Wheel Cube series. For a child's first cube, choose a regular magnetic 3x3 instead, and come back to the Dual-Star once the classic cube is no longer a challenge.
