DaYan Crazy Pentahedron Mercury is a five-axis puzzle from the planet series, created by DaYan together with MF8. This version is stickerless with a bright colour scheme. The model is designed for recreational solving and collecting, not for speedcubing.
DaYan Crazy Pentahedron Mercury is a twisty puzzle made by DaYan together with MF8. It has five axes of rotation, and the name Pentahedron refers to a solid with five faces. The model belongs to the Crazy Pentahedron series, whose versions are named after the planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The Mercury version we offer is stickerless with a bright colour scheme. There are no stickers, so nothing can wear off or peel.
With five axes of rotation, you can't simply apply the methods you know from 3x3. You need to understand how the moves affect the pieces, and you'll often have to work out your own sequences. The word Crazy in the name sets this version apart from the standard Pentahedron. The other planets in the series share the same body but solve differently, which is why collectors often buy several versions.
This is a puzzle for relaxed solving and for your collection, not a cube for breaking records. The mechanism wasn't tuned for speedcubing: there are no magnets or tension adjustment, and what counts is thinking through each move, not TPS. Reviews describe the turning as smooth and the difficulty as challenging but manageable. It's a great choice when, after 3x3, Pyraminx and Megaminx, you want to try something less typical.
For cubers who already know the basic puzzles and would rather figure out new mechanisms on their own than learn algorithms from a tutorial. It will also delight collectors of unusual puzzles, especially those collecting the whole planet series. For a child's first puzzle, a classic 3x3 cube is a better pick. This model only makes sense once the basics are mastered.
