GAN 12 ui SP 3x3 Smart Cube

This is a smart 3x3 cube from GAN. It connects via Bluetooth to the Cube Station app and records every move in real time. GAN 12 ui SP uses solutions from the flagship GAN 12 series, but unlike the GAN 12 ui MagLev, it runs on classic springs. This version has a UV coating and a stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Without MagLev, the turning feels more traditional and a bit more controllable than in the MagLev version. Users describe the SP as a stable and smooth cube. The magnets in the pieces give a clear "click" when layers line up. The UV coating is glossy and sits well in your fingers, which you'll appreciate if you like a stronger grip.

Sensors, app and power

• 6 Hall effect angle sensors register turns without mechanical contact. This means the pieces wear more slowly, and the cube shouldn't miss moves even at high TPS.
• The Cube Station app tracks your solves and shows statistics, so you can see your progress in numbers, not just "by eye".
• GAN ecosystem: the cube works with the GAN Robot V2 and the GAN Smart Timer.
• The built-in battery charges in the included charging case (PowerPod). According to the manufacturer, one charge lasts for about 15 hours of solving.

When you use it for the first time, turn the white face a full 360° in one direction within 3 seconds. This activates the electronics.

Adjustment

The cube is set up with two GAN systems. GES Pro+ offers 6 tension levels and 6 compression levels. GMS v3 lets you choose one of 4 magnet strengths. So you can set the cube up lighter for speed or stronger for control.

SP or MagLev?

Both versions have the same electronics and app. MagLev replaces the springs with repelling magnets, which makes the turning lighter and faster. The spring-based SP gives a more classic, predictable feel. The choice mainly depends on how you like a cube to behave in your hands.

Who is it for?

For a cuber who wants to train with data from the app while solving on a cube with a real speedcubing character, not a toy with electronics. It's also a good choice if you want a cube to use with the GAN Robot. If you only need a cube for regular solving without the app, a cheaper magnetic cube without electronics will be more than enough.
