GAN 15 MagLev UV 10th Anniversary

GAN released this edition to celebrate the brand's 10th anniversary. GAN 15 MagLev UV 10th Anniversary is GAN's 2024 flagship 3x3 cube, the GAN 15, in a transparent plastic version with a UV coating. The inside is the same as in the regular GAN 15 MagLev UV: MagLev, core magnets and the lightweight build this model is best known for. What's different is the look and the anniversary packaging.

How it turns

The first thing you notice is how little it weighs. The GAN 15 is noticeably lighter than the GAN 14, which is why many cubers praise it for reducing hand fatigue during long practice sessions. The cube is fast and feels smooth. Some reviewers say it offers plenty of control straight out of the box. Not everyone likes this character, though. If you prefer heavier cubes with some "weight" in your hand, you may find the GAN 15 too light. Some users also mention slight catching and lockups during more aggressive turning. Adjusting the tension and lubing the cube usually helps. Corner cutting is good, although a few opinions rate it slightly below the WeiLong V11.

MagLev, core magnets and adjustment

• MagLev: repelling magnets that replace traditional springs. This means no spring friction and none of the typical spring noise.
• Enhanced Core Positioning 4.0. The core magnets help the layers snap into place, with auto-alignment working within up to 40 degrees. This is not a traditional Ball-Core.
• Magnetic GES V3: 6 tension levels and 6 center travel levels, for a total of 36 settings.
• 3 magnet strength levels. You change them by swapping the magnetic rods (weak, medium, strong). The GAN 14 had 6 options here, so the GAN 15 offers less customization and focuses more on the turning itself.

10th Anniversary edition or regular?

In terms of performance, both versions are the same. The anniversary edition is chosen mainly for its transparent plastic and collectible character. If you simply want a cube for practice, you'll get the same mechanism in the standard GAN 15 MagLev UV.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who like light, fast cubes and want a standout version of GAN's flagship, including for their collection. It's a great fit if you've used the GAN 12 or GAN 14 MagLev. As a first cube for a child, it's probably too much. A cheaper magnetic model will be more than enough.
