MF8 Crazy 3x3 Plus Venus

MF8 Crazy 3x3 Venus is a puzzle from the Crazy 3x3 Plus series, created by mf8 together with DaYan. From the outside it looks like a regular 3x3 cube, but each of its six faces has a circular cut. The circle cuts through the center as well as the adjacent edges and corners, so the cube gains additional inner pieces. We offer it in the Stickerless Bright version, made of colored plastic with no stickers.

How Venus differs from the other planets

The Crazy 3x3 Plus series comes in eight versions named after the planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. All versions share the same mechanism. Only one thing changes: on which faces the center circle turns together with the layer and on which it stays in place. On Venus, the circles connected to the layer are on two opposite faces, white and yellow. On the remaining four faces, the circle does not turn when you turn the layer. As a result, the same moves behave differently depending on the face, and you need to apply familiar 3x3 algorithms with care.

How to solve it

This is not a speed cube but a puzzle for calm, thoughtful solving. What matters is understanding the mechanism, not TPS. You usually start by solving the crosses in the centers of the faces and finish with the inner corners, where 3-cycles come in handy. In reviews, Venus is often mentioned as one of the harder planets in the series. Customers point out that some of the corner pieces are very small, which is why the stickerless version is more convenient here than a stickered one, as stickers peel off more easily on such small pieces.

Who is it for?

For someone who can solve a classic 3x3 cube fluently, understands at least a little about how commutators work, and is looking for something that will really make them think. It will be too difficult as a first cube for a child or for someone who is just learning the 3x3. Venus is also a great addition to your collection if you are collecting the whole planet series.
