MoYu WeiLong WRM V10 3x3x3

With the tenth generation of the WeiLong, MoYu has clearly changed the character of the series. This version of the MoYu WeiLong WRM V10 3x3x3 is the basic magnetic variant. It runs on classic springs and has no magnetic core, so it is the simplest and most affordable way to get to know the V10 mechanism. The cube is stickerless, in the bright colour scheme.

How it turns

Many cubers compare the V10 with the V9 and point out that in practice it is a different cube. The feel is light and "airy", and the pieces don't carry as much momentum as in many earlier MoYu models. This makes it easy to turn fast without much effort. Out of the box, the cube is often described as fast with a slightly sandy feel. Once you find your setup and lube it, you can tune it to your own preferences. If you are used to heavier, more "controlled" cubes, you may need a moment to get used to its light character.

Magnets and adjustment

• 48 magnets in the pieces help the layers snap into place during fast turning.
• Auto-alignment 3.0. The manufacturer specifies an angle of 43 degrees. The magnet placement makes the layer readily settle into the correct position on its own.
• A dual adjustment system lets you set both tension and compression. Compression has 8 positions. Reviewers note that the absence of a classic screw makes it easier to set up the cube consistently.

How is it different from other V10 versions?

The WeiLong WRM V10 comes in several variants. The standard and standard UV versions have 48 magnets each. The 20-Magnet Ball-Core UV version adds magnets in the core and has 88 magnets in total, which helps stabilise the layers. The most expensive variant has a Ball-Core and MagLev, i.e. repelling magnets instead of springs, with 100 magnets in total. The Ball-Core versions are also slightly heavier (approx. 69 g vs. 64 g).

Who is it for?

This variant is a good choice if you want to move up from a cheaper magnetic cube to a model with tension and compression adjustment, or if you are looking for a light, fast cube for everyday practice. If you already know you prefer a more stable, held-in-place feel, you should rather go for the Ball-Core version.
