QiYi 60-Block Colorful Magic Snake is a snake puzzle: a magic snake made of 60 identical segments shaped like triangular wedges. Unlike a 3x3 cube, there is no solved state to reach. You bend and twist the snake to build shapes from it: a ball, animals, stairs or geometric solids. This version is multicolored, with stickerless bright colored segments, so the shapes you build are easy to see.

How the magic snake works

Each segment is connected to the next one and can rotate relative to it into four positions, 90 degrees apart. A series of these rotations creates a shape. To start, it's best to follow a pattern from the instructions or pick a simple shape, and then try your own designs. With 60 segments, building takes longer than with the classic 24-piece snake, and you need to pay a bit more attention to the direction of each turn. In return, there's room for bigger, more elaborate shapes that a shorter snake doesn't have enough pieces for.

60 segments or a shorter version?

QiYi snakes come in several lengths: 24, 36, 48, 60 and 72 segments. The best-known version is the 24-piece one. It's small and light, and you can build shapes from the instructions fairly quickly. The 60-piece version is noticeably bigger and heavier. It suits people who already know the basic shapes and want to build more complex ones. If you're just starting out or want something that fits in your pocket, you may prefer a shorter model.

This snake works well as a 3D puzzle for kids and adults. It trains spatial imagination and finger dexterity. Many people also keep it on their desk as a fidget toy to play with during breaks.
