QiYi Cross 3x3 M

QiYi Cross 3x3 M is a magnetic learning cube where each face is solved into a clear cross pattern, for example red on a yellow background. This simple pattern shows you right away what you are aiming for.

Why the cross helps

On a regular cube, a beginner has to keep track of six colors at once. Here the pattern is much simpler. Some pieces form the cross and others fill the corners, so it is easy to see your progress and spot which piece is out of place. You also need fewer steps and algorithms than on a regular 3x3 cube. This approach also gets you used to seeing the cube as a set of pieces rather than individual colored squares.

Turning

The cube has magnets that stabilize the layers after each turn. This makes it feel more solid than loose, non-magnetic cubes for kids, and the layers settle into place more easily. The 55.5 mm size fits smaller hands well. The plastic is matte, scratch-resistant and stickerless, so there are no stickers to wear off.

Who is it for?

It is a great first cube for a child and for anyone who finds a regular 3x3 discouraging for now. It also works well as a simple gift or a classroom aid. The cube is not allowed in WCA competitions because of its non-standard color scheme. Once you have mastered it, it is worth moving on to a classic magnetic 3x3 cube.
