ShengShou (圣手, pronounced roughly "sheng-shoh") is a Chinese twisty puzzle manufacturer that has been around since about 2009. You will often see the name SengSo on the packaging and in the names of newer products. It's the same company. ShengShou made its name with a 4x4 cube that was clearly ahead of the competition when it came out. Today ShengShou cubes are known above all for their wide selection, affordable prices and many unusual puzzles.

ShengShou cubes – from 2x2 to big cubes

The range includes classic cubes from 2x2 upwards. ShengShou was one of the first manufacturers to make high-order cubes, or big cubes, on a large scale. It released the first mass-produced cube-shaped 11x11. Even bigger models followed later, and the latest big cubes belong to the MoSheng series. For many people who want to solve something bigger than a 7x7, ShengShou is the first brand to check out.

Key series

• Gem – cubes with a distinctive textured surface. The series includes the 3x3, 4x4, Megaminx and the Gem 2x2–5x5 set, among others.


• Mr.M – the first magnetic ShengShou cubes (2x2, 3x3, Megaminx, Pyraminx). They have strong magnets and a clearly noticeable "click" when the layers line up.


• Legend – the basic line of 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 cubes, including the Legend S version.


• Aurora – a series that includes the Aurora Megaminx, among others.

Puzzles beyond NxN cubes

A large part of the range consists of puzzles outside the classic cube category: Megaminx, Kilominx, Gigaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, Square-1, Snake and Mastermorphix. ShengShou also makes shape mods such as the Mirror (also in 2x2 and 4x4 versions), the Fisher Cube and the Infinity Cube. The Magnetic Clock is popular too, including the 4x4 version, and you'll also find timers in the brand's range.

Who are they for?

ShengShou 3x3 cubes rarely end up in the hands of top speedcubers. In this category, flagship models from other manufacturers usually win, so if your main goal is fast 3x3 times, it's worth comparing other brands as well. ShengShou does, however, work well as a cheap first cube, a choice for less commonly competed WCA events (Clock, Megaminx, big cubes) and a source of unusual puzzles for your collection. Sets of several cubes also make a convenient starter gift for a child.
