Swift Block is a brand owned by GAN that launched in spring 2023. Its goal is to offer more affordable cubes built on solutions known from more expensive models. The Swift Block 3x3 355S is its first cube: magnetic, stickerless, 55 mm in size, with a matte (frosted) surface and tension adjustment that needs no key. It is a simple, budget speed cube. There is no MagLev, no core magnets and no magnet strength adjustment.

How it turns

The cube is light and sits comfortably in the hand. The smaller size is especially useful if you have smaller hands and for one-handed solving. The feel is rather blocky. The magnets clearly snap the layers into place, so overturning a layer is less likely than with a non-magnetic cube. According to users, corner cutting is good when the cube is set up well. With very aggressive turning, however, catching can occur. Some people also report that the factory tension is quite tight. The cube starts to turn better after loosening the springs, adding some lube or a few dozen solves. The construction is solid and handles fast, forceful turning well. Opinions on magnet strength vary: some find it sufficient, others prefer stronger magnets.

Magnets and adjustment

• 48 magnets in transparent capsules. The magnets are permanently fixed in capsules built into the pieces and are visible from the outside. Magnet strength cannot be changed.
• 5 spring tension levels are set by hand, without disassembling the cube and without tools.
• Matte (frosted) surface without UV coating, in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

Who is the Swift Block 355S for?

It works well as a first magnetic 3x3 cube, also for a child. It also suits you if you are learning the CFOP method and want to move up from a non-magnetic cube without buying a flagship right away. An experienced speedcuber looking for a cube with extensive setup options, magnet adjustment or a Ball-Core should rather go for more expensive GAN models. The Swift Block 355S does not have these features.
