Swift Block 3x3 355S (Year of Horse Edition)

Swift Block 3x3 355S (Year of Horse Edition)

Swift Block is GAN's budget brand, and the 355S is its entry-level magnetic 3x3. Swift Block 3x3 355S (Year of Horse Edition) is a special edition of this cube celebrating the Chinese Year of the Horse 2026. What sets it apart is the look: the yellow face has a special horse logo, and the white face has an orange Swift Block logo. The cube is stickerless in a bright colour scheme and has a matte (frosted) surface that gives you a good grip.

How it turns

The 355S has a blocky feel: the cube is solid and compact, and it handles aggressive turning well. Corner cutting is good for this price range, and the corners don't twist easily. Straight out of the box, the cube can be dry and a bit sandy, with clearly audible clicks when you turn it. Once lubed, it becomes much smoother and quieter, so it responds well to a simple setup. The magnets are medium strength, so the cube doesn't hold the layers too firmly, yet it doesn't feel too loose either.

This isn't a cube for everyone. If you like very light, fast cubes, you may find it too "blocky". At 85 g it's a little heavier than many cubes in this range, but in return it feels solid.

Magnets and tension adjustment

• 48 magnets in visible capsules on the edges. The capsules resemble those of older GAN cubes.
• 5 tension levels set by hand, without a key, using a numbered dial. At low settings the dial is harder to grip, but the differences between levels are clearly noticeable.
• Classic springs instead of MagLev. If you want MagLev, the Swift Block series has a separate model with that system.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants their first decent magnetic cube or is upgrading from a non-magnetic cube without spending much. It also makes a good gift for a child, as it handles drops well and the tension can be adjusted with your fingers. The Year of Horse edition mainly makes sense if you want a cube with a special-edition design. In terms of turning, it's the same as the standard 355S.
