Swift Block is GAN's budget brand. Until now it was mainly known for simple magnetic cubes such as the 355S. The Swift Block 3x3 Super Maglev UV is the first model in this series with features known from more expensive cubes: MagLev instead of springs, magnets in the core, 8-level GES adjustment and a UV coating. It is a 55 mm magnetic 3x3 cube weighing 71 g, in a stickerless version.

How it turns

The cube is light and fast. Without springs, turning is smooth and quiet, and the layers pick up speed easily. Even so, it doesn't feel jumpy. The magnets in the pieces and in the core clearly snap the layers into place, so the cube corrects slightly inaccurate turns on its own and overshoots less. Users praise its corner cutting and the small number of lockups. They also describe it as stable but not too tight. These are opinions from reviews, not a technical specification, but they come up quite often.

MagLev, magnets and adjustment

• Super MagLev with two magnetic rings. Instead of springs, the layers are held by repelling magnets. This means less friction and no spring noise.
• 76 magnets in total, including magnets in the core. They help align the layers and keep the cube stable at high TPS. This is not a Ball-Core.
• GES system with 8 settings. According to users, it comes set to level 5 out of the box. Higher settings make the cube tighter with less corner cutting. Lower settings give a looser feel and more corner cutting, but the cube is harder to control.
• Hollow design, meaning the pieces are hollow inside. This makes the cube lighter and reduces internal friction.

UV or Frosted?

The Super Maglev comes in a UV-coated version and a matte (Frosted) version. The UV coating gives a glossy surface with stronger grip and is more resistant to wear. The matte version feels drier to the touch. According to the available information, the mechanism is the same in both versions.

Who is it for?

It makes sense if you're moving on from your first magnetic cube and want to try MagLev and core magnets without buying a flagship right away. It also works well as a cube for daily practice or as a backup for a more advanced cuber. If you prefer a distinctly tactile feel and a spring-based cube, you may find MagLev too light and "floaty".
