Swift Block is a budget brand owned by GAN. It offers magnetic 3x3 cubes with features that used to appear mainly in more expensive models. The Swift Block 3x3 355S Maglev is a version of the 355S that uses the MagLev system instead of classic springs. The cube measures 55 mm, so it is slightly smaller than a typical 3x3 (56–57 mm). This variant comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme, with no stickers.

What MagLev means in this cube

In a regular speedcube, the layers are held together by springs on the core axes. In the MagLev version, this job is done by magnets that repel each other. In practice, the main difference is how the turns feel: there are no springs rubbing against the pieces, so their characteristic sound and resistance disappear. MagLev cubes usually turn more lightly and feel springier and more "bouncy" than spring versions. Not everyone likes this, as some cubers prefer the calmer, more controllable feel of classic springs.

355S or 355S Maglev?

Both models are the same 55 mm size and belong to the same Swift Block series. They differ in the system that holds the layers together:

• 355S: classic springs, a more traditional turning feel,
• 355S Maglev: magnets instead of springs, lighter turning and a different sound.

If you are not sure which system suits you, the Maglev version lets you try solving on a MagLev cube at a low cost before you buy a more expensive flagship model.
