The manufacturer Cube4You (C4U) is known for high-quality unconventional puzzles. It mainly makes full functional cuboids, such as the 3x3x4, 3x3x5 and 3x3x7, as well as a large family of Clock puzzles – from 3x3 to Hexagram-37.
C4U (Cube4You) is a Chinese brand from Shanghai that started out as an online store and over time began producing its own puzzles. Today, C4U products are mainly associated with two groups: full functional cuboids and a very extensive family of clocks, i.e. Clock-type puzzles. In both cases, these are cubes and puzzles for people who have already mastered the classic 3x3 and want to try something less typical.
Cube4You became well known around 2007, when it was one of the first stores to sell cubes from Chinese factories abroad. For several years, it was the main source of such cubes for cubers outside China. The brand also had its own 3x3 cube, known in the community as the C4Y or C4U DIY. Around 2010, it was praised for its good corner cutting, but it also had a reputation for being very sensitive to tensioning. Today's C4U range looks completely different and focuses on unconventional puzzles.
Our range includes the C4U 3x3x4, 3x3x5 Full Functional and 3x3x7 Full Functional cuboids. The full functional label means that every layer can be fully turned. This sets these models apart from Roadblock-type versions, in which some moves are blocked at the start. According to reviews, these cubes turn smoothly right out of the box, though slightly scratchy. However, this is user opinion, not a technical specification.
Most of the C4U products at Strefa Kostek are clocks. They work on the same principle as the classic Clock – you set the dials using the wheels and pins – but the layout is larger or has a different shape. In our range you will find:
As the size grows, so does the number of dependencies between the dials. The 4x4 Clock has 16 dials and 9 pins, and each pin affects four neighbouring clocks. The 7x7 Clock already has 49 dials and 36 pins. If you are just starting out with Clock-type puzzles, the 3x3 or 4x4 is a sensible choice. The larger versions and hexagrams are better suited to those who know the classic Clock well and are looking for a tougher challenge or an interesting model for their collection.
