C4U Clock-21

C4U Clock-21 is an extended version of the Clock puzzle from Cube4You, a manufacturer also known as Cube4U or C4U. The name tells you how many dials it has: instead of the 9 dials of a classic Clock, you get 21. Cube4You makes clocks like this as part of its series of 3D-printed puzzles. It's a puzzle for collectors and for anyone who has already mastered the classic Clock. This model is not a WCA event. The available variant is purple (Purple).

How this clock works

The principle is the same as on a standard Clock. The puzzle is double-sided, and each dial has a hand. You use the pins to choose which dials turn together, and the wheels to move the hands. The clock is solved when all the hands on both sides point to 12 o'clock. With 21 dials, each pin and wheel moves a larger number of linked hands. Methods for the classic Clock help you understand the mechanism, but for this model you'll need to work out your own approach.

Build

The Cube4You clock series is made using 3D printing rather than injection moulding, like the mass-produced clocks from QiYi or MoYu. That's why these models have unusual shapes and dial layouts that you won't find on a regular Clock. The Clock-21 has a square body about 10.6 cm wide. It's noticeably larger than a standard clock and sits comfortably in both hands.

Who is it for?

For anyone who can solve the classic Clock and is looking for a harder version of the same mechanism. For collectors of unusual puzzles, the Clock-21 is an interesting addition to the shelf. If you're just starting out or want to train for competitions, begin with the standard 3x3 clock with 9 dials. That's the puzzle used in the Clock event at WCA competitions.
