C4U Hexagram-19 Clock

C4U Hexagram-19 Clock is a Clock puzzle in which Cube4You has replaced the 3x3 grid known from WCA with 19 dials arranged in the shape of a hexagram. The mechanics stay the same: you still set the pins and turn the dials so that all the hands point to 12. However, there are more dials and they are more densely connected, so the solution has more stages and requires more planning than the classic Clock.

How it differs from a regular Clock

In a standard Clock, each move affects a simple grid of dials, and once you have learned a method you can solve it in a dozen or so seconds. Hexagram-19 uses the same system of pins and dials, but because of the hexagonal layout you have to rethink which dials move together for a given pin setting. You can't simply carry over a method from the 3x3 Clock; it has to be adapted to the new shape. If you already know the Clock from competitions, this is above all a new logic puzzle rather than a tool for setting fast times.

This puzzle is not WCA-legal, so it is not suitable for competition practice. A regular 3x3 Clock is all you need for that.

The Hexagram series

Cube4You offers several hexagram Clocks that differ in the number of dials, e.g. Hexagram-13 and Hexagram-37. The 19-dial version is the middle option in the series: noticeably harder than the classic Clock, yet much less complex than the 37-dial model.

Who is it for?

For those who enjoy the Clock and want to see how its mechanics work in a different shape, and for collectors of unusual puzzles. For your first Clock, the classic 3x3 model is a better choice, as it lets you learn the basics on a simpler layout and allows you to compete in competitions.
