A small, light 3x3 cube from DaYan: 54 mm and approx. 73 g. It has corner-to-core magnets (Ball-Core) and the MagLev system instead of springs. Tension is adjusted by hand across 5 settings, no tool needed.

This is the smallest version of the GuHong Pro M, an affordable 3x3 cube released by DaYan in 2023. The DaYan GuHong Pro Maglev 54mm has magnets in the pieces and corner-to-core magnets (Ball-Core). It also uses the MagLev system: instead of springs, the layers are held by repelling magnets. The cube measures 54 mm and weighs approx. 73 g, so it sits comfortably in smaller hands and works well for OH. We stock it in the stickerless bright colour scheme.
Straight out of the box, the cube is smooth and fairly quiet. However, DaYan applies a lot of factory lube, so some cubers wipe the cube down and lube it to their own taste. The piece magnets are medium strength: you can clearly feel each move, but without a strong "click". The core magnets add stability, although they don't snap the layers into place as decisively as in more expensive flagships. Cubers who have tried both 54 mm versions usually find the MagLev more stable and controllable than the spring version.
Opinions on corner cutting are mixed. On loose settings it's decent, but some reviewers say the cube resists at larger angles and when reverse corner cutting. When turning fast, especially in OH, overshooting can occur.
The cube has 5 tension settings, adjusted by hand, without a tool. Setting 1 is the loosest and gives the most corner cutting, while 5 is the tightest. Compression and magnet strength can't be adjusted, so there is less room for customisation than in flagship cubes.
The standard 54 mm version has springs. It's lighter (approx. 66-67 g) and looser when turning, which some cubers prefer for OH. The MagLev turns more calmly and gives you more control, while being only a few grams heavier. The successor to this cube, the GuHong Pro+, offers adjustable core magnet strength as well as separate tension and compression settings. That is, however, a different model from the one described here.
For anyone who wants an affordable cube with core magnets and MagLev, and for cubers looking for a small 3x3 cube for OH or for smaller hands. It's a great next cube after a first beginner model, as it performs well without lengthy setup. If you need extensive adjustment options and strong magnets, you'll more likely find them in more expensive cubes.
