The GuHong Pro+ is the second edition of the GuHong Pro and, in practice, an expanded version of it. The DaYan GuHong Pro+ MagLev 54mm keeps the characteristic DaYan feel and adds the features its predecessor lacked: adjustable corner-core magnets, a fully magnetic core and a tension adjustment system with a numbered scale. The MagLev version has 94 magnets in total (in the pieces and in the core). The 54 mm size is the smallest of the three available variants of this 3x3 cube.

How it turns

The Pro+ is fast and smooth. Users describe the turning as soft, with the slightly "papery" feel typical of DaYan. Corner cutting is generous, so the cube doesn't stop when layers are not perfectly aligned, and lockups happen mostly with imprecise turning. Some people find the cube almost too fast straight out of the box. In that case, a stronger corner-core magnet setting, tighter tensioning or a thicker lube helps. The cube comes heavily lubed from the factory, so it's worth wiping the outside before first use.

Adjustment and technologies

• MagLev, a magnetic system responsible for the springiness of the layers. In this variant the cube has 94 magnets.
• Adjustable corner-core magnets. You can set how strongly the corners are pulled towards the core, which noticeably changes the stability and "tightness" of the cube.
• Numbered dual adjustment. A single element sets both tension and compression, and the numbers make it easy to repeat your favorite setup.
• More securely fitted center caps. According to users, they stay in place better than in the first GuHong Pro, where they sometimes fell off.

MagLev or Magnetic, 54, 55 or 56 mm?

The GuHong Pro+ comes in a Magnetic version (64 magnets) and a MagLev version (94 magnets), and in three sizes. According to the manufacturer, the MagLev version offers lighter and faster turning, while the Magnetic is a simpler option without MagLev. The 54 mm version is smaller than the standard 56 mm, so it suits smaller hands best, as well as people who like a compact cube, for example for OH.
