A 51 mm magnetic 2x2 cube with magnets in the corners and in the core, plus three-level magnet strength adjustment taken from the GAN 11 M Pro. Tension is adjusted with GES nuts, with several sets included. Of the Air, Pro and Leap versions, it is the most stable and gives you the most control.

GAN 251M Pro 2x2

The GAN 251M Pro is a magnetic 2x2 cube from the 251 M series, released by GAN in 2021. The series comes in three versions: Air, Pro and Leap. The Pro has an additional set of 8 magnets in the corner feet and in the core and three-level magnet strength adjustment. Both features come from the GAN 11 M Pro, the manufacturer's flagship 3x3 cube. The cube measures 51 mm, so it is slightly bigger than a typical 50 mm 2x2. The plastic has a matte (frosted) finish, and in the stickerless version you can see the coloured internal pieces.

How it turns

The cube turns lightly and fluidly, with a smooth feel. Corner cutting is very good, so even an imprecise turn usually goes through. The magnets in the corners and in the core hold the layers in place, which makes the cube stable and easy to control at high TPS. The magnets are clearly noticeable but do not get in the way of solving. Some reviewers even describe them as fairly soft. There are no classic corner-to-corner magnets here, so the magnets work differently than in older 2x2 cubes. According to GAN, Teodor Zajder from the GAN team set a single solve world record on this cube.

Adjustment

Tension is set with GES nuts: there are two nut distance settings and several sets of springs of different strength. You change the strength of the core magnets with the key included in the set, choosing one of three settings. This way you can set up the cube more for speed or more for control.

Air, Pro or Leap?

The Air has no core magnets and no magnet adjustment, so it is the lightest and has a simpler feel. The Leap has the same system as the Pro, but with bigger core magnets, so it is faster. The Pro is the most stable of the three. This cube is usually chosen by cubers who value control.

Who is it for?

This is a cube for speedcubers who train 2x2 seriously and want to tune the cube to their own preferences. As a first cube for a child, it offers more than is needed, so a cheaper magnetic 2x2 model will usually be more than enough.

    Bardzo przyjemna kostka. Corener cutting świetny, chodzi płynnie, przydatny jest ten nieco większy rozmiar. Mam tylko 2 drobne uwagi. Po pierwsze, miałem na początku lekkie probkemy z ogarnięciem tych mechanizmów by dostosować kostke pod swoje preferencje. Ale myślę że z poradnikiem jest to do ogarnięcia. 2 uwaga to to że odrazu po wyjęciu kostka jest bardzo sucha. Masię takie dziwne wrażenie jagby kostka była z papieru zrobiona. Więc generalnie warto chyba dać chociaż trochę smaru i mechanizm rozruszać.

    Mam już kostkę lekko ponad miesiąc, sprawdza się świetnie. Najbardziej podoba mi się w niej system regulacji za pomocą GES-ów tak jak w innych kostkach z rodziny gan, dzięki czemu mogę bez problemu za każdym razem wracać do swoich ustawień po rozmontowaniu kostki.
