MoreTry Tianma X3 Double Magnetic 3x3

MoreTry Tianma X3 Double Magnetic is a magnetic 3x3 cube released in 2022. It comes from MoreTry, a small, little-known brand founded by a former YJ designer. The Tianma X3 series was sold in four versions that differ in their magnet setup. The Double is the second of them and has a dual positioning system with 96 magnets in total. In the hand, the cube feels a bit like MoYu products. To us, it feels like a mix of the WeiLong V2 and the TengYun V1.

How it turns

The Tianma X3 Double is fast. The magnets are not strong, and despite the dual system they feel fairly moderate. The cube turns lightly, but its stability leaves a lot to be desired. With aggressive turning, layers overshoot more easily than on cubes with stronger magnets. If you like layers that "snap" firmly into place, you may need some time to get used to it, or a version with stronger magnets may suit you better. Users praise its corner cutting and reverse corner cutting, while the fairly loud sound is mentioned as a downside.

Magnets and adjustment

• Dual magnet system. In addition to the classic set of corner-edge magnets, the cube has extra magnets in the edge torpedoes (two each) and in the corner feet (three each). According to the manufacturer, they pull the layers into place automatically within a range of about 20 degrees.
• Adjustable springs. The cube uses classic springs (no MagLev). Tension adjustment is done with screws and a 9-level spring setting system, which you set using the screwdriver included in the set.
• "Fishscale" elements. According to the manufacturer, the textured surfaces inside the cube reduce friction while turning.

Who is it for?

For cubers who like fast cubes with weaker magnets and want to try something outside the major brands. It is more of a cube for the curious and for collectors than an obvious choice for your first magnetic 3x3. The cube is legal for official competitions.
