The RS3M V5 is the fifth generation of MoYu's budget series and the successor to the hugely popular RS3M 2020. The MoYu RS3M V5 Dual Adjustment 3x3x3 is a magnetic speed cube with classic springs. Alongside the regular screw, it has a numbered adjustment system. In the V5 series, this variant sits between the basic Standard version, which has no adjustment, and the more expensive MagLev and Ball-Core UV versions. We stock it in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The cube is light and fast. Cubers describe its feel as fast and blocky. The magnets give a clear, fairly sharp "click", which is typical of the RS3M series. Straight out of the box, the RS3M V5 can be dry, tight and slightly sandy, so it's a good idea to lube it and loosen it a little right away. After this setup, the cube usually becomes smoother and more forgiving. At first you may get some lockups when turning fast, but lube solves the problem in most cases. The manufacturer specifies corner cutting of up to 55° and reverse corner cutting of up to 35°.

Adjustment and design

• Dual Adjustment: you set compression and tension independently. The numbered nut has 9 positions, and you can use the screw to tighten or loosen the cube further. This makes it easy to return to a setting you know works.
• 48 magnets hidden inside the pieces.
• A rounded core that improves stability, plus an anti-pop design that prevents popping.
• "Dragon scale" texture on the contact surfaces of the pieces, which reduces friction while turning.
• Frosted matte finish and coloured internals.

Which RS3M V5 version should you choose?

The Standard version has the same mechanism, but you can only adjust the screws. The Dual Adjustment version also lets you adjust the springs, so it gives you more setup options without swapping parts. In the MagLev version, the springs are replaced with repelling magnets, giving even faster turning. The Ball-Core UV has magnets in the core that help the layers align, plus a glossy UV coating. It's the variant for those who want the most stable cube in this series.

Who is it for?

It's a great first speed cube for anyone switching from a regular 3x3 cube, including kids. It also works well as an affordable main or a backup cube for cubers who like a fast, blocky feel. If you prefer very smooth, soft cubes, you may need a longer setup or a different model.
