The RS3M V5 is the fifth generation of one of MoYu's most popular budget magnetic cubes and the successor to the RS3M 2020. The MoYu RS3M V5 Dual Adjustment Robot 3x3x3 has a classic spring mechanism and dual adjustment, which means you set tension and compression separately. It also comes with a robot-shaped box you can use to keep the cube on your desk or shelf. The cube itself is exactly the same as the regular Dual Adjustment version.

How it turns

This is a lightweight magnetic cube with a frosted surface and coloured internals. Users most often describe it as fast and smooth, with fairly light magnets. The manufacturer specifies 55° corner cutting and 35° reverse corner cutting. The centres use an anti-pop system, and the piece surfaces have a "dragon scale" texture designed to reduce friction. Reviews are also honest about its weaker points. The plastic doesn't feel as premium as on more expensive cubes and can chip if dropped. Lockups can occur straight out of the box, but they usually disappear after lubing. If you prefer strong magnets and a very "tight", controlled feel, you may find the RS3M V5 too light.

What does Dual Adjustment give you?

The standard RS3M V5 has no core adjustment. In this version you can set two things separately at the screw and spring: tensioning, which is how tightly the layers sit against each other, and compression, which is how firmly the springs work. The manufacturer specifies 9 settings. This lets you set the cube looser for fast turning or tighter for control and stability. The included tool and screwdriver are used for adjustment.

Other RS3M V5 versions

In the MagLev version, the springs are replaced with repelling magnets. The Ball-Core UV version also has a magnetic core (56 magnets in total) and a glossy UV coating. Dual Adjustment is a sensible choice if you want adjustment but don't need MagLev or Ball-Core.
