YJ Pocket Cube mini 3x3 (50mm)

YJ Pocket Cube mini 3x3 is a 50 mm magnetic 3x3 cube, a few millimetres smaller than a typical speedcube, which usually measures 55-57 mm. The difference may seem small, but you can clearly feel it in your hand. The cube fits easily in a jacket pocket and is comfortable for one-handed solving. The Stickerless Bright version uses coloured plastic instead of stickers, so nothing peels off or wears away.

How does this mini 3x3 cube turn?

The cube comes with factory-installed magnets that help the layers line up and give a more noticeable "click" than non-magnetic cubes. Users describe them as medium rather than strong. Turning is smooth, and corner cutting is good for a cube in this price range. Reviewers also point out that it is quiet.

Keep in mind that straight out of the box, the cube can be dry and tightly tensioned. A few drops of lube and a quick setup are usually enough to make it turn much more lightly.

What it doesn't have

This is not a flagship, just a simple magnetic cube. It has no MagLev, Ball-Core or UV coating. That keeps it affordable, while it still clearly outperforms the non-magnetic cubes sold in supermarkets.

Who is it for?

People usually buy the Pocket Cube as a second cube to carry around: in a backpack, to work or on a trip. It works well for people with smaller hands, including kids, and for those who practise One-Handed. It can also be a first magnetic cube for a beginner who doesn't want to spend more right away. For main timed practice, however, most people will choose a standard size, because at 50 mm some cubers feel the cube is too small for two-handed solving.
