Chemical Element 3x3x3 UV Printing by Zcube is a 3x3 cube with an unusual design: every tile looks like a square from the periodic table of chemical elements. There are no stickers. The pattern is UV-printed directly onto the stickerless bright plastic, so nothing peels off or shifts at the edges of the pieces.

Periodic table cube: what you get

This is first and foremost a themed cube. It looks great on a desk or in a collection, and it makes a nice gift for anyone who loves chemistry. You solve it just like a regular 3x3, and the coloured background of each face lets you use standard methods. The print is decorative and doesn't make solving any harder.

How it turns

Compared with most picture cubes, this one turns quite decently. It is not a speedcube, though. The pieces have no Florian holes, the cut corners on the inner edge. They are left out to keep the tiles fully square for the print. In practice, corner cutting is noticeably weaker than on speedcubes, and lockups are more likely when you turn faster. That's fine for relaxed, casual solving, but if you want to improve your times, a regular magnetic cube is a better choice.

The cube has adjustment screws, so you can loosen or tighten it a little if needed.

Who is it for?

For collectors of unusual cubes, students and chemistry fans, and parents looking for an original gift with a "science" theme. The cube is not allowed in official WCA competitions, because the regulations require solid-coloured faces.
