Zhigao Spinning Pen V16

Zhigao Spinning Pen V16 is a pen spinning pen from ZhiGao's range of mods (manufacturer code ZG-5098). It has a double-sided design, with weights on both ends. It is balanced so that the centre of gravity sits close to the middle of its length. As a result, the pen rotates evenly around your fingers and doesn't slip out of your hand when you try your first tricks. Although it's made for spinning, it writes normally, so it can sit in your pencil case as an everyday pen.

Design and balance

The pen is approx. 21.5 cm long. It is noticeably longer than a regular pen, and at this size it's easier to control the rotation and feel the rhythm. Most of the weight sits in the two caps at the ends, with a lighter body connecting them in the middle. The whole pen weighs approx. 25 g, which puts it among the heavier mods. This weight distribution gives a stable, predictable rotation. Very light pens are less forgiving, while with the V16 it's easier to feel when the pen is finishing a spin.

Who is it for?

For anyone starting out with pen spinning who wants to practise on something made for spinning right away, rather than on an ordinary pen. The V16 also works well as you keep training. If you prefer light, fast mods, you may need a moment to get used to its weight.

A few words about pen spinning

Pen spinning is a form of contact juggling. A pen, pencil or similar object moves between your fingers and performs a series of spins. It is said to have started in Japan in the 1980s. One of the first people to show pen spinning online was Hideaki Kondoh. Tricks look effortless from the side, but mastering them takes long hours of practice.
