Zhigao Spinning Pen V5

Zhigao Spinning Pen V5

The Zhigao Spinning Pen V5 (model ZG-5091) is a factory-made pen for pen spinning, the art of twirling a pen between your fingers. It's longer than a regular pen, about 22 cm, and the body has an anti-slip coating, so it slips less in your fingers during your first spins. You can also write with it normally, because it has a click-retractable refill, so it can sit in your pencil case like any other pen.

Pen spinning is a form of contact juggling. You spin pens, pencils or similarly shaped objects so that they pass between your fingers in a series of moves. Japan is considered the birthplace of the hobby, where it was already popular in the 1980s. One of the first people to show it on the internet was Hideaki Kondoh. The tricks look easy from the outside, but spinning smoothly takes a lot of practice. Most people start with four basic tricks: Thumb Around, Sonic, Charge and Fingerpass. Most of the more complex combos are built on them.

The V5 works well for learning these basics. It's longer and better balanced than a random pen from your desk, and the coating helps you keep hold of it. To be honest, though, here's how experienced pen spinners rate it. Factory-made Zhigao pens get mixed reviews in the community, and people who get seriously into the hobby usually move on to mods later, pens assembled from parts chosen for their weight and balance. To get started, to find out if pen spinning is for you, or as a pen for everyday spinning at school or in the office, the Zhigao V5 is a simple and affordable choice.

The colour is random (Mixed color), so you can't choose a specific colour version.
