Giant Cubes – big puzzle cubes and twisty puzzles

Big puzzle cubes and twisty puzzles in oversized versions, from about 7 cm to over 40 cm. A standard 3x3 cube is about 5.6 cm, so even a 9–10 cm model feels noticeably different in your hands. A 30–35 cm model is solved with both hands, and often the cube simply sits on a desk or shelf. Most of the puzzles here are 3x3 cubes. You will also find oversized 2x2, Pyraminx, Skewb, Megaminx and Ivy Cube puzzles from manufacturers such as DianSheng, QiYi, MoYu, YJ, ShengShou, HeShu, Zcube and Hello Cube.

How to choose the size of a big cube?

The size determines what the cube is good for. The easiest way is to divide the range into three groups:

• 7–10 cm – you can still solve these normally. One example is the DianSheng Googol Magnetic series in 7, 8, 9 and 10 cm sizes. There are also the QiYi QiMeng Plus 9 cm, MoYu MeiLong 9 cm and HeShu 9 cm. A bigger cube fits a child's hand or a large hand more easily, but your TPS (turns per second) will be lower than on a standard cube.
• 15–20 cm – for example the DianSheng Googol 15 and 19 cm, YJ Big 16.8 cm, MoYu 18 cm Fitness Cube, ShengShou Legend Plus 18 cm or QiYi Warrior Plus (19 cm in our shop, 18.8 cm according to the manufacturer). These models are usually solved with both hands. They work well as a curiosity, a patience exercise and an impressive gift.
• 30 cm and more – e.g. the Giant Cube 30 cm or the DianSheng Googol Giant 35 cm. These are mainly decorative and display cubes, also useful at events and in classrooms.

Magnetic or non-magnetic?

Some giant cubes have magnets. They help align the layers, so the cube gets stuck in lockups less often, i.e. jams that happen when you turn a layer that isn't fully aligned. With large sizes this matters a lot, because heavy layers are easier to overturn. Some models come in two versions: the QiYi Warrior Plus is available as a standard version and as the Warrior Plus M with magnets. The non-magnetic version gives you more freedom when turning. The magnetic one gives a more distinct, controlled feel.

Not just 3x3

The solving rules are the same as for the standard versions – only the scale changes.
