MoYu AoSu V7 4x4 Dual-Track Magnetic UV

The AoSu V7 is MoYu's new flagship 4x4 cube and the successor to the popular AoSu WRM. At 58 mm it is smaller than its predecessor and sits comfortably in your hand, even during long sessions. The MoYu AoSu V7 4x4 Dual-Track Magnetic UV is the middle version in the series. In addition to the standard magnets between the pieces, it also has a magnetic Ball-Core, and its surface has a UV coating.

What Dual-Track means

A "track" is simply another set of magnets. This cube has two:

• 96 magnets between the corners and edges. The Single-Track version has the same number.
• 16 magnets between the corners and the Ball-Core. They hold the internal structure in place, so the layers align more easily and the cube stays more stable during fast turning.

Together, that makes 112 magnets. Tension adjustment works the classic way, with screws.

How it solves

Users describe the AoSu V7 as fast yet controllable. Turning is smooth with a slightly tactile feel, and corner cutting is good. The Ball-Core noticeably improves stability compared to the Single-Track. The magnets on the inner layers are fairly strong, while those on the outer layers are lighter. Some cubers like this setup, but others note that it makes slice moves require more force and that catching can occur. Adjusting the tension and lubing the cube help. The inner layers are also slightly narrower than the outer ones, which takes a little getting used to at first.

Single, Dual or Triple-Track?

The Single-Track (96 magnets, no Ball-Core, available in matte or UV) offers a lot for its price and works well as your first serious 4x4. The Dual-Track version adds the Ball-Core, so it is more stable during faster solving. The Triple-Track adds another 48 magnets in the feet of the inner pieces (160 in total), giving an even more magnetic interior, but also heavier slice turning.

Who is it for?

For cubers who solve 4x4 regularly, have outgrown their budget cube and want a cube that stays stable at higher TPS. For a child who is just learning 4x4, the Single-Track version is more than enough.
