QiYi 48-Block Magic Snake Transparent is a snake puzzle made of 48 triangular pieces joined into a single chain. This version is made of transparent plastic and comes in three colors: blue, green and red. You can see through the walls of the pieces, which also makes it easier to see how the individual segments are arranged.

How does it work?

A Magic Snake works differently from a 3x3 cube. There is nothing to return to a solved state. By twisting the joints between the pieces one after another, you build shapes out of the chain: animals, geometric figures, letters, a ball or a compact block. Each joint turns in 90-degree steps, and a sequence of these moves creates the whole figure. You will manage simple shapes after just a few minutes of play. More complex figures require planning the order of the twists, and some of them are easiest to recreate from a diagram.

The snake has no magnets and no tension adjustment, so there is nothing to set up or lube. This puzzle is made for free-form building and trains your spatial imagination. It is not solved against the clock.

How many pieces should you choose?

QiYi offers snakes of different lengths. The 48-piece version sits in the middle of the range. It gives you far more possibilities than short snakes, yet it is still easy to control because the chain is not too long. If you want to build bigger and more complicated figures, you can choose the 72-piece version. The 36-piece version is a good choice for your first experience with this type of puzzle. The Transparent version differs from the classic QiYi snake in its looks, not in how it works.
