QiYi 48 Blocks Magic Snake is a snake-type puzzle: a "snake" made of 48 wedges shaped like triangular prisms, linked into a single chain. The classic Rubik's Snake has 24 pieces, so this one has twice as many. That gives you a longer chain and lets you build bigger, more complex shapes. The model was released in 2021 and is part of the QiYi snake series, which also includes versions with fewer and more pieces.

How the magic snake works

Each joint between neighbouring wedges rotates in 90-degree steps, so every segment can be set in one of four positions. Sequences of these twists turn a simple chain into a ball, animals, letters, geometric shapes or your own creations. Unlike a 3x3 cube, the snake has no "solved" state. There are no algorithms and no scrambling either. It's all about spatial imagination, recreating shapes from diagrams and inventing your own.

With 48 pieces, the whole chain is harder to keep under control than in the 24-piece version. It's easier to lose count of the twists, but in return you can build shapes that a shorter snake simply doesn't have enough segments for. If you're just starting out and want to master the basic shapes first, you may want to consider a shorter version.

This puzzle is great for kids and adults who enjoy hands-on brain teasers and building shapes. It doesn't require knowing any methods. Just twist it for a moment and you'll understand how it works.
