QiYi 96-Block Magic Snake

QiYi 96-Block Magic Snake is a long snake puzzle made of 96 identical wedges, i.e. segments shaped like triangular prisms. It works like any magic snake. Neighbouring segments rotate against each other, and every joint has four fixed positions. That means a single chain can be turned into animals, geometric figures, letters and 3D shapes. It comes in four colours: Mixed color, Blue, Green and Red.

What makes the 96-piece snake different

The classic snake has 24 segments. QiYi also makes versions with 36, 48, 60 and 72 pieces. The 96-Block version is noticeably longer than all of them. This lets your figures be bigger and more detailed, and one snake can build shapes that a shorter version simply isn't long enough for. There is a trade-off, though. With such a long chain you need to plan more, any mistake in the middle of a build multiplies more easily, and getting back to the starting shape can take a while.

How to play with it

Unlike a 3x3 cube, a magic snake has no single solved state. You don't solve colours with algorithms here. The fun is all about spatial imagination: you come up with a shape and look for the sequence of twists that builds it. The segments lock into four positions, so the figure doesn't "fall apart" in your hands and you can put it on a shelf. Many people also use the snake as a fidget toy to twist during breaks.

Who is it for?

For those who already know a shorter snake and want to build bigger, more complex figures. It also makes a great gift for someone who enjoys spatial puzzles but doesn't feel like learning algorithms. If you're new to snakes, you may want to start with the 24- or 36-piece version. It makes it easier to understand how the twists work before moving on to a longer model.
