QiYi Magic Snake 24

This is QiYi's version of the classic snake puzzle, also known as the "magic snake". QiYi Magic Snake 24 is a chain of 24 connected segments that twist against each other. Unlike a 3x3 cube, the snake has no single "solved" state. The idea is to fold it into shapes, from simple solids and animals to more complex figures, or to come up with your own.

How the magic snake works

Each segment can be set in four positions relative to its neighbour. With 24 pieces, that gives a huge number of combinations, so even this shortest version lets you build lots of different shapes. Each turn ends with a noticeable click as the segment snaps into place. This keeps the finished shape stable so it doesn't fall apart in your hands, and you don't have to adjust the pieces by hand while turning. Users who have compared different snakes say the QiYi turns more smoothly and is quieter than the ShengShou version.

Why 24 segments?

The original Rubik's Snake had the same number of segments, and most popular shape patterns were designed for this length. That makes the 24 version the best choice to start with: it's short, quick to reshape, and the figures are easier to manage. QiYi also makes longer snakes (36, 48 and 72 segments). They let you build bigger, more elaborate shapes, but they take more time and are harder to handle.
