MoreTry Tianma X3+ Triple Magnetic Frosted

The Tianma X3+ series comes in several versions that differ mainly in their magnet layout. The MoreTry Tianma X3+ Triple Magnetic Frosted is a magnetic 3x3 cube with three sets of positioning magnets, classic springs and a matte (frosted) surface. The X3+ is an improved version of the original Tianma X3. Among other changes, MoreTry redesigned the magnet capsules, which could slip out after a drop in the first generation. In our shop, the cube is available in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The Tianma has quite a distinct character. Turning is snappy, with a noticeable "click" at the end of each move, and the sound is clacky rather than muted. Some cubers love it for exactly that reason, while those who prefer quiet, soft cubes may need a moment to get used to it. Users mostly praise its fast, light turning and good corner cutting, especially forward.

The third set of magnets closes the layers more firmly and stabilises the cube during turns, which is why the Triple version feels more "controlled" than the Single or Double. In the previous generation, the Triple was the version most often recommended to cubers who value control. MoreTry cubes can be fairly loose and dry straight out of the box, so it's worth starting by setting the tension and applying a little lube.

Mechanism and adjustment

• Springs instead of MagLev. The classic spring system gives a more traditional feel than the Super-MagLev version.
• Dual adjustment, meaning separate compression and spring tension adjustment. There are 9 settings to choose from.
• "Fishscale" shaped pieces, designed to make turning smoother.
• Frosted, meaning matte plastic without a UV coating. It doesn't shine and picks up fewer fingerprints.

Which Tianma X3+ version should you choose?

The Single and Double are simpler variants with lighter magnet action. The Triple Frosted has an extra set of magnets, so layer positioning is more pronounced. The Full-Magnetic has four sets of magnets (118 in total) and a glossy finish. The Super-MagLev also has three sets of magnets, but uses MagLev, i.e. repelling magnets, instead of springs.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want a fast 3x3 cube with stronger layer positioning and enjoy a distinct, snappy feel. It also works well as a second cube if you want to try something different from popular MoYu or GAN models. For a child's first cube, a simpler magnetic variant is usually enough.
