MoYu released this edition to celebrate the company's 18th anniversary. The mechanism is the same as in the top version of the WeiLong V11: a 20-magnet Ball-Core, MagLev and UV coating. What sets the anniversary edition apart are the transparent internal pieces and the collector's set in red packaging. Yiheng Wang set a 3x3 average world record on the WeiLong V11, so this 3x3 cube has results at the very highest level behind it.

How it turns

Straight out of the box, the V11 in this configuration is very fast and fairly loose. Users especially praise its stability and corner cutting, and the 20 magnets in the core clearly help the layers snap into place. The feel is smooth, with a distinct magnetic "click". Some people find the cube too fast without any setup. Usually it's enough to tighten the tension or change the MagLev setting to make it more controllable. If you prefer heavier, calmer turning, expect to spend a little time finding your ideal setup.

Technology and adjustment

• Ball-Core 3.0 with 20 magnets: the magnets connect the corners and edges to the core. This improves stability and control during fast turning.
• MagLev: repelling magnets replace the springs. This makes turning lighter and faster than in spring versions.
• 8 tension levels and 8 MagLev settings, 64 configurations in total. You change them with the key included in the set.
• 100 magnets in total, factory-installed in the cube.
• Corners designed to prevent popping and self-twisting, capped-style pieces.
• UV Coated: a glossy surface with strong grip.

How is it different from the regular V11?

Mechanically, it isn't. The 18th Anniversary Edition has the same internals as the standard V11 20M Ball-Core MagLev UV. The differences are in the looks and the set: transparent internal pieces, a red anniversary box, a matching case and a limited 18th Anniversary card. If all you care about is how the cube turns, the standard version gives you the same. The 8M Ball-Core UV version is a different choice: it uses springs and has fewer magnets in the core, so it turns less lightly.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want the flagship V11 in its top configuration and also enjoy collector's editions. The anniversary edition also makes a great gift for someone who already solves. For a first cube, a cheaper V11 variant or a simpler magnetic model will be enough.
