Yiheng Wang set the 3.91 s average world record on the WeiLong V11. It was the first official average under 4 seconds. The MoYu WeiLong V11 3x3 M UV is the version of this cube with the classic feature set: 48 magnets in the pieces, springs, no magnets in the core and a glossy UV coating. Colour scheme: stickerless bright.

How it turns

This 3x3 magnetic cube has a more traditional feel than the more expensive V11 variants. The magnets between the edges and corners help the layer settle into place after a move, and the springs give predictable, controllable behaviour. There are no magnets in the core. Because of that, the cube doesn't align layers as noticeably as the Ball-Core versions, and with very aggressive turning you need to pay a bit more attention to finishing your moves. Many cubers see this as a plus, because the mechanism is simpler and easier to get a feel for.

The UV coating gives a glossy surface with strong grip and resists scratches better than regular plastic. If you prefer a matte surface, choose the standard (frosted) version. The mechanism is the same.

Adjustment and construction

• 8 tension levels and 8 compression levels, giving 64 setting combinations. You can set the cube up more for speed or more for control.
• Anti-pop and anti-twist corners that reduce pieces popping out and corners twisting.
• “Dragon scale” texture on the pieces that reduces friction while turning.

Four versions of the WeiLong V11

All of them have the same 55.5 mm size and the same adjustment range. They differ in finish, core magnets and tension system:

• V11 M: 48 magnets, springs, frosted finish.
• V11 M UV (this version): 48 magnets, springs, UV coating.
• V11 8-Magnet Ball-Core UV: an additional 8 magnets in the core (64 in total), still with springs.
• V11 20-Magnet Ball-Core MagLev UV: 20 magnets in the core (100 in total) and MagLev instead of springs, i.e. repelling magnets. This is the top version, the one the world record was set on.

Who is it for?

This version suits you if you want the body and adjustment options of the flagship WeiLong but prefer classic springs and don't need a Ball-Core. It works well as a first serious speedcubing cube, including for a child who can already solve and has outgrown basic models. If stability at high TPS matters most to you, consider the versions with core magnets.
