MoYu WeiLong V11 SE Magnetic

MoYu WeiLong V11 SE Magnetic 3x3

MoYu WeiLong V11 SE Magnetic is a special edition of the basic magnetic version of the WeiLong V11, MoYu's flagship 3x3 cube. It differs from the regular V11 Magnetic in its looks: it has black internal pieces, a black logo on the white center and a black box. The mechanism is the same as in the regular version: springs, magnets in the pieces, no magnets in the core and a matte surface without UV coating. On the outside, the cube comes in a stickerless bright color scheme.

How it turns

The regular V11 Magnetic is usually described as quite fast right out of the box. The magnets in the pieces clearly snap the layers into place, so every move has a noticeable "click". If you prefer a more controllable feel, you may find the factory settings too loose, but that is easy to change with the tension adjustment. The matte plastic offers medium grip and doesn't look shiny. User reviews also often mention that this version holds up well to drops.

Adjustment

• 8 tension levels and 8 spring compression levels, giving 64 combinations in total. You set them with the MoYu adjustment key.
• 48 magnets in the pieces. This version has no Ball-Core or MagLev.
• A classic spring system that gives a more traditional feel than MagLev.

SE Magnetic vs. other V11 versions

The V11 SE series is also available in a more expensive variant with a 20-magnet Ball-Core, MagLev and UV coating. In that version, the core magnets help with auto-alignment and stabilize the layers during fast turning. MagLev replaces the springs with repelling magnets, which gives a faster, lighter feel. The UV coating makes the surface glossy and helps it stick better to your fingers. The SE Magnetic version matches the basic V11 Magnetic, and only the looks are different. If appearance doesn't matter to you, the regular V11 Magnetic will give you the same mechanism.

Who is it for?

It's a good choice if you want the mechanism of the flagship WeiLong V11 without paying extra for Ball-Core and MagLev, and you also like collector's editions with a black interior. It also works well as a first serious magnetic cube for someone just getting started with speedcubing. The wide adjustment range lets you tune it to your own style later on.
