MoYu WeiLong V11 3x3 8-M Ball Core UV

MoYu offers several versions in the WeiLong V11 series, and this one sits in the middle. The MoYu WeiLong V11 3x3 8-M Ball Core UV has an 8-magnet Ball-Core and a glossy UV coating. Compared with the 20-M version, the core magnets are weaker and it uses classic springs instead of MagLev. We offer this cube in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

What the 8-magnet Ball-Core does

The Ball-Core is a spherical core with magnets that attract the cube pieces from the inside. This keeps the layers more stable during fast turning and makes them less likely to shift when you're not touching them. With 8 magnets, you can feel the effect, but it's weaker than in the 20-M version. The cube doesn't "snap" back to its resting position as strongly, and the overall feel is less magnetic. Cubers usually choose the 8-M version when they want the stability of a Ball-Core but prefer a lighter feel when turning.

Adjustment and finish

• 8 tension levels and 8 compression levels, set with the MoYu adjustment key. You can tune the cube more towards speed or more towards control.
• Springs instead of MagLev. A classic spring system. In this series, MagLev is found in the 20-M Ball-Core version.
• UV coating gives a glossy surface that offers better grip than matte plastic and wears more slowly.

Which WeiLong V11 version?

The Magnetic and Magnetic UV versions have no Ball-Core and differ only in their finish. The 8-M Ball Core UV version adds core magnets and a UV coating. The 20-M Ball-Core MagLev UV version has the strongest core magnets and MagLev. However, stronger core magnets don't automatically make a better cube. Many cubers prefer the calmer feel of the 8-M. Who is it for?

For intermediate and advanced speedcubers who want a flagship 3x3 cube with a Ball-Core and adjustment, but don't need MagLev or the strongest magnet version. For a first cube, the basic magnetic version is usually enough.

It was on the WeiLong V11 that Yiheng Wang set the world record average of 3.91 seconds.
