MoYu WeiLong V11 SE 20M MagLev Ball-Core UV 3x3

SE (Special Edition) is a special edition of the WeiLong V11 in its top configuration. It has a 20-magnet Ball-Core, MagLev instead of springs and a UV coating. The MoYu WeiLong V11 SE 20M MagLev Ball-Core UV has the same mechanism as the regular 20M MagLev Ball-Core UV version. What's different is the look: black plastic internals, a black logo on the white center and a black box. The cube is stickerless, in the bright colour scheme.

How it turns

This cube is fast. MagLev, meaning repelling magnets in place of springs, gives light, dynamic turning, and the magnets in the pieces give a clear "click" when layers align. The Ball-Core keeps the cube stable at high TPS and helps the layers settle into place, so they overshoot less often. Users say the SE feels no different in hand from the regular V11. They also point out that without a good setup and lubing the cube can be hard to control. On the loosest settings it is very fast, which doesn't suit everyone. Some people need a while to find the right settings for themselves.

Technologies and adjustment

• 20-magnet Ball-Core 3.0: magnets connect the corners to the core. The whole cube has about 100 magnets in total.
• MagLev: instead of springs, it uses magnets that repel each other. This gives faster turning than spring versions.
• UV Coated: a glossy surface that gives your fingers good grip.
• 8 tension levels and 8 compression levels, 64 setting combinations in total.

SE or standard V11?

If all that matters to you is how the cube turns, the regular WeiLong V11 20M MagLev Ball-Core UV will give you the same thing. With the SE version you pay for the black internals, the black logo and the collector's box. The variant with an 8-magnet Ball-Core and springs is a bit calmer and more controllable. The basic V11 Magnetic and V11 UV have no magnets in the core.

Who is it for?

For a speedcuber who wants the flagship V11 in its most fully equipped version and likes the black look of the SE. It's a good fit for people who enjoy fast, light-turning cubes and don't mind spending some time on setup. For a child's first cube, a simpler and cheaper magnetic model is a better choice.
