X-Man Tornado V3 Flagship Core Upgrade Kit

The X-Man Tornado V3 Flagship Core Upgrade Kit is a new core for the Flagship version of the X-Man Tornado V3 cube. Its design is simpler and sturdier than the core fitted in the first production batches of this model. It consists of fewer parts, and the magnets are built directly into the core. It comes in handy when your old core has cracked or when you want to replace it early, before it gets damaged.

Is this kit right for your cube?

Before you order, check two things:

• Cube version. The kit fits the Tornado V3 Flagship only. The Pioneer version (with MagLev) has differently designed center caps, so this core is not compatible with it. The Pioneer needs a separate kit, which in turn does not fit the Flagship.
• Production batch. The kit is intended for cubes from early batches, in which the core was assembled with screws. If you don't see any screws in the core after removing the caps, your cube already has the new core and this kit won't change anything.

Why replace the core

The first Tornado V3 core was more prone to damage. In some cases the thread wore out or the core cracked during solving or when taking the cube apart for lubing. The new design is simpler, so it has fewer parts that can fail. Users report that the replacement goes smoothly and requires no special skills. Some of them also notice that the feel of the cube changes slightly after the swap. The new core isn't broken in yet, so for the first few solves the cube may turn a bit differently than before.
