X-Man Tornado V3 Pioneer Core Upgrade Kit

X-Man Tornado V3 Pioneer Core Upgrade Kit is a replacement core for the X-Man Tornado V3 Pioneer, the MagLev version of the cube. The first batches of the Tornado V3 had a core with magnets held in place by small screws. QiYi replaced it with a simpler, stronger design: the new core has fewer parts and the magnets are embedded inside it. This kit contains that new core in a transparent version (Transparent).

When this core comes in handy

This kit is mainly intended for people who bought an early version of the Tornado V3 Pioneer and have the older, more fragile core in their cube. Owners of this model have reported that the old core can crack and the threads for the screws can wear out. When that happens, the cube starts loosening on its own or a layer stops holding. The new core solves this problem because it has no screws. Some people also buy it in advance, before the old core gets damaged.

First, check which core your cube has. If there are no screws in your Tornado V3 Pioneer, you already have the new design and this kit won't change anything.

Compatibility: Pioneer only

The Flagship and Pioneer versions have differently designed center caps, so this core does not fit the Tornado V3 Flagship. There is a separate kit for the Flagship. Before ordering, make sure you know which version of the Tornado V3 you have.

Installation

To replace the core, you need to fully disassemble the cube and reassemble it on the new core. After reassembly, it's best to check the tension adjustment settings from scratch and only then go back to your usual setup. A few users say the cube feels slightly different after the swap. These are subjective impressions, but it's a good idea to expect a short period of fine-tuning. If you've already reassembled a cube after lubing it, you'll handle the replacement without any trouble. Complete beginners may find help from someone more experienced useful.
